Today I’m quoting directly from my reference page for unusual holidays because I don’t consider this day unusual or funny, but simply important: “Since 1970, April 22nd has been dedicated to environmental protection. Over 150 countries celebrate this date as International Earth Day (often also called International Mother Earth Day). The aim of this day of action is to encourage people to rethink their consumption habits with regard to ecological aspects and sustainability.”
